Lead Vocalist

In popular music the terms lead vocalist, frontman / frontwoman (person), or lead singer refer to the member of a group or band who sings the melody of a song. In a performance where multiple voices may be heard, the voice of the lead vocalist is usually the most prominent. The lead vocalist is accompanied by any number of musicians, who play the rhythm and backing music, and may provide additional vocal parts like a chorus.
